Infrared Reflections, Merced River, Yosemite Valley Infrared darkens both the sky and the water, while lightening the leaves to give this strongly contrasted image. There is no snow or frost on the leaves; they simply are highly reflective of infrared light.
Half Dome and Merced River in Infrared, Yosemite Valley Another infrared shot of one of our favorite bends in the Merced River. It looks like a winter scene, but was taken in fall while the leaves were still on the trees, reflecting the infrared light.
Pueblo of Santa Ana, New Mexico The Tamaya Indian Reservation runs along the Rio Grande north of Albuquerque. While attending some meetings at the pueblo, I walked in the early morning light among the cottonwood trees lining the river. My infrared camera brought out the brilliance of the early morning sun on the leaves.
