Moonrise, Glacier Point, Yosemite National Park We were somewhat disappointed that there were no clouds in the sky to make the sunset more interesting, but I had already calculated that that the moon would soon rise just to the right of Half Dome. And when it did, it was an awesome sight. Even as the last sunlight lit the face of Half Dome, the first slice of the moon announced itself and treated us to this calm, restful scene as the moon rose above the high Sierra peaks in the distance.
Tenaya Lake, Yosemite National Park This is my favorite spot at one of my favorite alpine lakes. The name in the title of this photo is the original Indian name for this lake; an evocative name for this special place. I love the story about the naming of the lake. Chief Tenaya protested when army officers suggested naming the lake after him.
Autumn Sunrise Over Half Dome, Yosemite National Park How is it that Half Dome has been photographed so often from Cooks Meadow, yet it can still show itself off in unique ways? I always get myself out before sunrise when staying here. You never know what new scenes you will find.
