Cathedral Rocks, Yosemite National Park The clouds were creating interesting shapes this spring day, including what looks like a lenticular cloud above Cathedral Rocks. The meadow in the foreground often has a seasonal lake at this time of year, forming a perfect reflecting pool. There is an interesting painting of Cathedral Rocks in the winter by Alfred Bierstadt from this viewpoint.
Late Afternoon, Olmsted Point; View Toward Half Dome The short trail to this rocky point in front of the Olmsted Point viewing area is worth taking, yet not many people do. It's a peaceful place to sit and watch the changing clouds -- here enshrowding Half Dome away to the southwest. The evocatively named Clouds Rest is to the left.
Cook's Meadow, Yosemite Valley The famous tree in the famous meadow in the famous valley. The sunbeams are what made this picture for me. The early morning mist had almost cleared, but left enough water vapor to create this autumn scene.
