King Billy Pines, Cradle Valley, Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area What a glorious name for these towering trees, named for the last Tasmanian native who died in 1869. The trail through this forest is peaceful and green, bordered by these twisted trees cloaked in moss. Unfortunately, bushfires threaten these ancient trees in other parts of the Tasmanian wilderness.
Bainbridge Island, Washington Golden sunlight lights the moss covered trunk and branches of this tree, growing not far from the pond in the picture below. I often hike by this spot, but only once found this warm glow on the trees.
