Far From The Common Ways Of Life

Little Lakes Valley, John Muir Wilderness

Located above 10,000 feet, the glacier-carved lakes in this valley are fed by snow melt, and form beautiful reflecting pools for the high Eastern Sierra peaks of Bear Creek Spire, Mt. Dade, Mt. Abbot and Mt. Mills. The area gets busy with hikers in the summer, but I had the valley all to myself on this chilly October morning. We had scouted out the area the day before, and it was worth getting up at 3:30am to catch the light. I appreciated the cold stillness of the dawn
